"A six-foot-nine senior from the Bronx, New York. Number 15, Frank "the Tank" Elegar!" As Emcee Dan Baker belted that name, the crowd exploded. The Campus Kickoff event brought out the loudest, most vocal fans of the University Thursday night for a celebration of Drexel basketball.
Freshman Christina Mastropaolo scored two goals for the Dragons as Drexel came from behind to defeat city rival Penn in a non-conference match, 3-2 at Penn's Franklin Field Oct. 12. For Drexel, it was its third victory in the last four games as it improved to 8-7 (3-2 CAA) for the season.
Drexel extended their impressive midseason winning streak to five games as it defeated George Mason, 1-0. It was the team's third shutout during this stretch. With the win, Drexel improved to 7-2-2 for the season, including 4-0 in conference play. For the Dragons, the four conference wins are the most the school has had since joining the Colonial Athletic Association in 2002.
