Brokenhearted Drexel snubbed by NCAA

"Stanford." Never could one word emotionally hurt over 18,000 Drexel students as much as that one. Drexel officially found out that it was not heading to the NCAA Tournament after Stanford was announced as the last team in the bracket of 65 on Selection Sunday, March 11.

Jim Tucker replaces Caneris as senior VP

President Constantine Papadakis announced the selection of James R. Tucker as the new senior vice president for student life and administrative services March 14. Tucker will replace Anthony Caneris, who is retiring in June after over 10 years with the University.

RIAA sues students for illegal file-sharing

Caneris reflects on leadership qualities

Students bid a final farewell to Anthony Caneris, senior vice president for Student Life and Administrative Services, at a luncheon in the Bossone Enterprise Center March 13. The topic of the luncheon was "Changing Leadership" and the event was part of Leadership Weeks, sponsored by the Office of Campus Activities.

Students move from Kelly to Race

Drexel University officially opened its newest dormitory this past week when students staying in Kelly Hall moved to the new Race Street Residence March 9-11. The Race Street Residence, which is a suite-style dorm, is 11 stories tall and can hold 486 students.

SigEp brothers shave heads to raise funds for cancer research

As tiki torches lit the lawn of the Sigma Phi Epsilon house, onlookers purchased soda and hot dogs while watching the brothers of the fraternity shave their heads the night of March 14 for St. Baldrick's Day, a fundraiser for children's cancer research. Participants were sponsored to shave their heads to raise money for cancer research as well as to provide support for those undergoing cancer treatment who lose their hair.

Drexel coaches participate in American Cancer Society breakfast

The ninth annual American Cancer Society Coaches vs. Cancer Tourney Tip-Off Breakfast was held at the University of Pennsylvania Palestra March 12 from 8 to 10 a.m. Drexel coach James "Bruiser" Flint, along with the other five Division I basketball coaches from the Philadelphia area - Fran Dunphy, Temple University; Phil Martelli, Saint Joseph's University; John Giannini, La Salle University; Glen Miller, University of Pennsylvania; and Jay Wright, Villanova University - discussed their selections for the upcoming 2007 NCAA Basketball Tournament and helped raise money for the fight against cancer.

UCD unveils new mobile web service

University City District announced the launch of UCity Mobile, a mobile web search site, March 9. Cell phone users can now use the Internet on their phones to locate area retailers, restaurants, attractions and accommodations.
