Bloody breaker breaks boundaries, bones

By Dennis Mongello

"Don't play this game if you are susceptible to epileptic seizures." That's a basic synopsis of the first message you see (in an ironically flashy font) when you pop Nano Breaker into your PS2. I have to commend Konami for the warning to those with epilepsy about playing this game, but where's the warning to the rest of us? Are we doomed to play gaudy games just because their flashy graphics don't affect us in a negative way? Simply put, the warning at the beginning of this game should have included children, the elderly, anyone with a high school diploma or GED equivalent, pregnant women, and those in the field of medicine.

Rockin' record bowls

By Kimberly Loux

These fabulous bowls are made out of old vinyl records. Most record stores have old/scratched albums for 25 cents to a dollar - or you can check out the Salvation Army. I personally recommend Barry Manilow or Jazzercise records - the funkier the better. If you are fortunate enough to run across colored records they make stunning bowls.

Point

Hitch derivative, formulaic

By Ian Pugh

Directed by Andy Tennant. Starring Will Smith, Eva Mendes, and Kevin James. The message behind Hitch is the fact that we can't really put on a false face when it comes to love, but we have to be real, three-dimensional people.

Counterpoint

Cheesiness makes fine film

By Sarah Mason

Columbia Pictures film "Hitch" starring Will Smith and Eva Mendez is all about teaching guys how to date women. The funny thing is, all the suave moves and sultry lines are coming from a man. What about what us women think? Here's one spin on what "Hitch" has to say.

Resident Evil moves into heart

By Tom Bennett

Jerky character movements, fixed camera angles, and lots of keys. While the previous list is made of integral materials to past Resident Evil games, the latest incarnation of the classic series is a refreshing new entry into survival horror that ditches, well, just about everything from previous games.

Drink of the Week

Panzerjäger

By Aaron Sakulich

* 1 oz. Rumple Minze * 1 oz. Jägermeister * 1 oz. Tequila Known in some areas as a Panzerfaust, this drink lives up to its' name no matter what you call it. After a few, you'll be ready to hunt tanks or equally ready to terrorize them.

Good ideas badly realized make Boogeyman a bogey

By Ian Pugh

Spoiler warning! For those who want, for some unknown reason, to bother and watch Boogeyman, some minor details (mostly of the ending) are revealed here. The boogeyman (or "bogeyman," if you prefer) is one of the best of all mythical horror creatures - because there's nothing to him.

Cold Mountain album finest folk found on Philadelphia frontier

By Elisa Bermudez

"Return to Cold Mountain" is another beautiful collection of authentic American folk music, it has been a good attempt to rediscover and rescue this genre. The album is inspired in the movie Cold Mountain with performances from Nicole Kidman, Jude Law and Renée Zellweger.
