Students living in the housing complex located at 35th St. and Lancaster Ave. have been given official notice by the City of Philadelphia to vacate the premises by Feb. 2. The complex, owned by New Age Realty, suffered from lack of an adequate fire alarm system and violated a number of City zoning policies.
Skaters, both at the University and surrounding area, will soon be able to enjoy a public skatepark. Located south of the Philadelphia Art Museum, the skatepark will reside within the 8,900 acres of the Fairmont Park, which is along the Schuylkill River. Students will have to cross a bridge to use the park, but it is a small price to pay for free use of the facilities.
Shots heard at 229 N. 33rd Street early on the morning of Jan. 27 turned out to be an instance of armed robbery. Public Safety Officer Robertson observed two white males and two black males fighting in an area adjacent to Myers Hall, in a Public Safety incident report.
As darkness fell on the snow covered City of Philadelphia Jan. 23, the Philadelphia Eagles were on the verge of defeating the Atlanta Falcons to advance to the Super Bowl Championship for the first time in 24 years. Over the past four years, the Eagles reached the NFC Championship game every time, but this year was their first win.
Come spring term and the Great Works Symposium will offer its course in Musical Theatre - from the classical opera to the modern musical. The Great Works symposium series offers students with a transdisciplinary and elective course covering various topics.
Twelve seniors majoring in mechanical engineering and mechanics have based their senior design project around the SAE Mini-Baja challenge which will take place on May 5-7 2005 in Rochester, New York. "Mini Baja consists of three regional competitions that simulate real-world engineering design projects and their related challenges," according to the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) website.

Moshe Kam, a Robert Quinn Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was elected as IEEE Vice President for Educational Activities and Chair of the Educational Activities Board. The world's largest technical society, IEEE comprises more than 360,000 members spanning 150 countries.
