We, the student newspaper of this University, write to you to ask for your help with and to make you aware of the growing feeling of student apathy. It is not necessarily because the students are naturally uncaring about events in and around campus, but mostly the blame can be put on a depreciation of communication skills between the University and the students that it serves.
The United Nations began with a bang. Well, two big bangs. The two atomic bombs dropped on Japan in August of 1945 signified a beginning to a new world order of peace. Or, at least, an attempt at it. The League of Nations had already failed years earlier due to internal squabbling and legal bottlenecks.
The United States' military action in Iraq has been going on for well over a year now. This much we do know: A democratic government has been installed, over 1000 American troops have come home in coffins with flags draped over them and we're still acting pretty much unilaterally.
All I can say is wow, this nation is really freaking messed up. It is just that simple. We have an idiot in the highest executive office in our nation, and we have another moron trying to oust him. No I don't mean Ralph Nader here; this one actually has a chance.
