The Drexel men's basketball team will appear in the postseason for the second consecutive year after being selected to play in the National Invitation Tournament March 14. The Dragons will head to Villanova March 17 to take on a hot Wildcats team that made a run in the Big East championship tournament, winning two games before losing to Connecticut.
Interim Provost Ali Houshmand attended the Undergraduate Student Govern-ment Association meeting March 8 and clarified all rumors regarding annual registration, saying that it will not happen for students this year.
The Undergraduate Student Government Association is currently evaluating the need for a student to sit on the Drexel Board of Trustees. Though USGA President David Lee has not yet contacted the Board about the idea, Lee said he wants student voices to be heard on all levels.
The Steinbright Career Development Center is holding pre-registration meetings from March 15 to April 23 for students participating in the fall-winter co-op cycle for the 2004-05 academic year. First-time co-op students are required to attend a group pre-registration meeting in order to participate in the co-op process.
The March 9 Faculty Senate meeting featured Interim Provost Ali Houshmand, who informed faculty of how annual registration will affect them. One of the main effects is that faculty will now be required to submit schedules for the entire year at one time. "All I want is an organized plan for three quarters," Houshmand said.
Floyd Cochran, former national press secretary for Aryan Nations and reformed neo-Nazi, visited Drexel March 8 to educate students about the evils of the organized white supremacist movement. Cochran, who renounced his racist views in July 1992, began his speech by apologizing to anyone who had been directly or indirectly affected by his hateful actions.

The University is advising students to be on alert in the event of a strike by 4,700 SEPTA City Transit Division employees March 15. Talks are still in process between SEPTA and the Transport Workers Union Local 234. The strike would stop all bus and trolley activity within the city, in addition to subway activity on the Market-Frankford and Broad Street lines.

The Department of Defense selected Drexel University, along with Rice University and the University of California at Berkeley, to receive research grants totaling $2.8 million this year and $14.7 million over a five-year spread. The grants are part of the Department of Defense's Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative - a program that focuses on themes crucial to national defense.
